Resizing your cloud server
Resizing your cloud server
Resizing changes your server's plan, adjusting CPU, RAM, and (on upgrades) disk space. You can upgrade for more resources or downgrade to a smaller plan to reduce costs.
How to resize
- Open your server's detail page in Cloud Servers
- Scroll to the Resize Server card
- Your current plan is shown: "Current plan: {label}"
- Select a new plan from the "Choose a plan…" dropdown, each option shows CPU, RAM, disk, and monthly price
- Click Apply resize
Upgrading
When upgrading to a larger plan:
- A confirmation modal appears: "Resize server? Upgrade from {current} to {new}. The server will restart briefly during the resize."
- Click Resize to confirm
- The server restarts briefly, typically 1–2 minutes
- Once done, the new specs are available immediately
Downgrading
When downgrading to a smaller plan:
- A warning appears: "Disk stays at {current disk} (cannot shrink)"
- This means your disk size stays the same, your data is safe, but you'll have fewer CPU and RAM resources
- The server must be powered off before a downgrade can apply
- A confirmation modal asks: "Downgrade server? Downgrades cannot shrink the disk, your current disk size is kept. The server must be powered off."
- Click Downgrade to confirm
Important: disk size can only increase, never decrease. A downgrade adjusts CPU and RAM only.
After resize
Your server's detail page updates to show the new plan specs once the resize is complete. Billing adjusts to the new plan price on your next invoice.
